Philosophy:
When I heard of Social Justice High School I didn’t know what it really meant. I came to this high school because it was close to my house and my friends were coming here. In addition, I heard it was a really good school from a friend that graduated from Social Justice. Throughout my years at Social Justice I have learned that it social justice means equality for everyone with different culture, race, religion, etc. This school is special in many ways. The school makes the students feel welcome and equal. Social Justice High School has changed a lot, it changed by the meaning of the E7, teachers, students, principal, etc.; Even though these things changed everybody stood strong. These changes might be hard to deal with, but we have to remember what social justice means.
As years go on freshman won’t know what social justice means. The culture is there not being taught the right way. When the first principal left another one came to replace him, his name was Mr. Weiden; he did his best to do everything that Social Justice meant. He made everything positive, but after he left everything changed. Current obstacles that happened would have been walk outs, sit ins, town halls, and teacher and students getting their voices heard at meetings. For my brother it is a little harder for him because he has Down Syndrome. Some people treat him different because of he looks and acts. My brother should be treated equally like others with disabilities too.
A vision for struggle would be fighting for what you believe in. It would also be to believe that you can ne strong and achieve things, and you can overcome the struggle. People fight with words to overcome their struggle. Remembering the E7 would be a good way of visions of struggle.
My role towards social justice would be for people with disabilities to have equal education. My career would be Special Education and helping special need kids get good education. Working with kids that have disabilities can help me volunteer with Piotrowski Park because they have a program with kids with disabilities.
